X-Games Big Air (the popularity contest)
Oh man, what an event. I mean, isnt it a brilliant idea to have a big air competition, in the world’s most prestigious extreme winter sport event, with 4 skiers, out of which one is american, and let the public vote for the winner by text-messaging?
…Well…I guess it is safe to say we all knew who the winner was going to be from the start. Not that anyone is giving any bad critique to Simon, he did not make the rules - he just played by them. All in all it was a fun night, we gave the crowd what we could, and my ankle felt like it was OK to ski on, but I couldnt give a 100 %. Not that it would matter though.

Slopestyle also happened today but I wasnt feeling it and I didnt want to risk my ankle by skiing any more on it. Going on a pow trip to Retalack, BC next week so I’ll wait for that.

you’re totally right about it being a popularity contest - as long as simon stuck some kind of trick, he for sure had it in the bag… but maybe they should narrow the field to three and have like a gold, silver, bronze kind of thing? or have an open competition where all xgame freeskiers could compete?? who knows. the voting is wack, but the event is super fun. exactly as you say - don’t hate the player, hate the game.
