hey is this where you come to meet pros?

Every day I spend in Keystone’s A51 terrain park I am reminded of how high the riding level is. Maybe because about every single professional athlete in our sport that cares about competitions is there, from morning to afternoon. It just struck me how overwhelmed I would be if I was a 13 year old kid on vacation, sessioning the kicker lines with my heroes. Isn’t that pretty beautiful, in what other sports do the world class elite train and get ready for contests on the same grounds as stoked beginners?

Here’s some faces you would be likely to see in Keystone on any given january day:

My ankle felt a lot better today and i did about a 100 straight airs on the medium size jumps. I can’t do any tricks or anything but I was having tons of fun just being weightless. I can’t wait to start working on some new tricks though…

problems

Hi all. I though I’d update you on why there’s no fresh ski edits popping up here every day.

I got to Colorado stoked, couldn’t wait to go out and ski and work on a bunch of tricks for the upcoming comps, and got up super early monday morning to go hit Keystone. Everything was feeling fine, until I klicked into my bindings. My ankle was nowhere near healed. On my way down to the park I popped a casual 180 on a roller and though my foot would break in half. I spent the rest of the day struggling with straight airs and boxes, eventually going home after a few runs.

Having an injury that you can’t even tell you have without skis on is so frustrating. Being the first injury in my professional career, I’m just not used to my body not behaving when I’m trying to get it to do certain things. I have exactly 10 days left until X-Games Big Air, and I am going to do my best recovering, working out at the gym, and staying off the hill. Hold your thumbs for me, please.

Let’s take the focus off my whining for a little bit and talk about a more serious issue. As you might know, Poor Boyz filmer and a good friend Riley Poor had a severe accident happening to him in Vermont a few days ago. He is currently in Albany, NY where he’s had surgery. Let’s all send out the best vibes to Riley and hope for a speedy recovery, we all know you can make it brother.

Back in CO

Just letting you all know I just got back to Breckenridge, Colorado, where I will spend about a week to get strong for the X-Games.

It’s 6:20 in the morning and I’m jetlagged so I got up at 5. Always good to come here since I can get up early in the mornings and I will be too tired to cause any trouble at night, so I know I’ll get shit done…

Stay tuned for skiing updates!

video blog!

No reason to deny it - videos are more exciting to watch than pictures and words. Here’s some ice skating.

Also, ignore the black/red square at the end, it was supposed to be an arrow pointing out where I live but I screwed it up somehow. My editing skills will get better, I promise.

what do i write on here?

•January 3, 2009 • 13 Comments

Happy New Year everyone,

I’ve been slacking with updates, I know. But what do I write about? Right now not much is going on, I’m rehabing the foot, trying to get strong again so I don’t miss too much of the season. I’m about 95% sure that I won’t go to the second stop of the dew tour, because I want to be on the top of my game for X-Games Big Air which should be tons of fun this year if they can build a better jump (If anyone with any influence on the X-Games course builder reads this, think big!)

Anyways, here’s a handful of pictures from the last couple days. It’s really cold in swedeland right now and all the lakes have ice on them, so we’ve been ice fishing. No luck so far though, one fish in 3 days.

started off 2009 with making a friend tattoo on my best friend Carl. I was a drink or two deep so it wasn't perfect but it's rock n roll!

Back to the issue of me not providing any interesting posts on this site lately. Since I don’t feel like I have any long rants about the questionable Dew tour judging in me at the moment, what do you, the readers want from this blog when I’m not skiing? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

We all knew it would happen. With nothing else to, I decided that I was going to take the final step and try out the gun on real skin. I couldnt find any willing test objects so what do you do?

My ankle is healing up well too, I am pretty sure it should be OK to ski on in a week. I really hope so, it would be fun to go to Vermont for the second dew tour stop. peaceinthemiddleeast/J

christmas day

•December 25, 2008 • 5 Comments

Merry X-mas, all. I finally got home two days ago, but we never bothered going up to Åre to ski with our families because my ankle is still bad from saturday. Stayed at home in the apartment and had a real nice christmas eve. Woke up to blue skies today and figured we’d use the few daylight hours to go hang out by the lake. I even brought fishing gear but the lake was frozen already, but not thick enough to walk on. Oh well. Here’s some nice winter pics, no snow on the ground as you can see though;

we thought we'd go fishing for a bit but it turned out there was a thin layer of ice on the lake. oh well.

wont put the fishing gear to use today, I guess.

01:00 am, Hilton, Chicago O’Hare

American Airlines really dont want me to be home for christmas this year. My flight out of Denver was 3 hours late, causing me to miss my flight from Chicago. I arrived to an empty airport, with not a single agent working that could tell me what was going on. I’m getting strangely used to these situations. Is it really worth it? I tend to question it.

I was told they rebooked me on a flight at 5pm tomorrow afternoon. Thank you.

I was so over it that I checked in at Hilton by the airport. Fancy Schmancy.
